rootEd Advisor
Position Summary
The rootEd Advisor is embedded in school districts to proactively help high school students through each step of career exploration, postsecondary attainment and workforce skills and credentialing. Performance will be evaluated by monthly tracking of key metrics related to student and program performance. Partnering with high school counselors, this position works with students in developing and expanding LEARNS, Pathways and Student Success Plan while supporting students to enroll in college (college fit discussion, applications and orientation), to earn a workplace credential, to enlist in the armed services, to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and more.
Essential Job Duties
Meet one-on-one with each high school senior, multiple times per semester to help each student develop and succeed in their student success plans.
Build relationships with all high school students through regular meetings to help them with decisions related to postsecondary planning.
Monitor and document the progress of high school students related to key performance data metrics.
Refine and expand LEARNS, Pathways and Student Success Plan for all high school students that align with coursework and activities that help achieve personal career goals, postsecondary planning and individual pathway options.
Ensure that all seniors progress through each stage of the financial aid process, from FAFSA completion through verification.
Understand and navigate high school students through each step of the college application process, including housing applications, scholarship applications and completing each step of college orientation.
Develop case-management strategies to increase postsecondary application, FAFSA completion and career planning and attainment for partner district high school students.
Connect high school students to needed internal and external resources to aid their success and goal attainment.
Work closely with high school counselors to ensure a smooth transition to postsecondary success for high school students.
Build relationships with local industries through regular meetings or career fair events for students to explore local and regional opportunities.
Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
Comply with district policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned, including attending school-sponsored functions, serving on committees and attending community events.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
Exceptional relational skills with a variety of diverse people.
Experience in education, social work, counseling, case-management, advising, or related experience.
Familiarity with career development, college placement testing, application process, advising and financial aid processes.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to plan and organize small events.
Proficiency with a variety of computer operations and the ability to learn and adapt to new software and tracking tools.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via email, phone, video chat, text messaging and public speaking.
Availability to travel to high school and community events as needed.
Ability to work well with others.
Proficiency to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: (The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.)
Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
Commissioned School Security Officer
The Commissioned School Security Officer (CSSO) will provide security for students, staff, and visitors in Eureka Springs School District. CSSOs will patrol school buildings and building grounds to prevent unauthorized visitors and to promote a culture of safety and security. Applicants with a law enforcement or military background are preferred but not required. CSSO duties will include but are not limited to:
Be on property on a daily basis during school hours, as well as any time students are present during after hours events
Patrol hallways, stairwells, restrooms, and parking areas
Prevent access to school buildings and grounds by unauthorized visitors
Provide security for all occupants of school buildings and grounds
To engage an active shooter with lethal force if necessary
Participate in safety walk throughs and building assessments
Assist with building drills and other emergency procedures
Assist with car rider, bus rider, crosswalk duties, and traffic control before and after school
Monitor the school’s emergency management system and security cameras
Provide safety and security trainings to students, families, staff, and the community
Prepare reports
Collaborate with district and school administrators
Collaborate with first responders for ongoing training
Abide by all state and federal laws and regulations
Other duties as assigned
CSSO Requirements:
Act 393 of 2015, mandates training requirements for CSSOs in Arkansas
Applicants must be 21 years or older
Applicants must have a valid drivers license
Applicants must clear the Arkansas State Police and FBI background checks
Applicants must pass a psychological exam
Applicants must submit to random drug screenings
Applicants must provide a current vision and hearing report
Applicants must complete a 60 hour minimum three phased CSSO training and pass a final examination
Applicants must complete a refresher course of training every year
Applicants must complete a renewal three phase course of training every two years

High School Science Teacher - Biology & Physical Science
Eureka Springs High School is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and collaborative High School Science Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. The ideal candidate will have a passion for scientific inquiry and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
The teaching assignment primarily focuses on core 9–12 science curriculum, specifically Biology and Physical Science.
Key Responsibilities
● Instructional Leadership: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in Biology and Physical Science that incorporate laboratory experiments and hands-on learning.
● Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, inclusive, orderly, and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and respect.
● Collaboration: Act as a true team player within the high school faculty, participating actively in professional learning communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and cross-curricular initiatives.
● Student Assessment: Evaluate and track student progress using diverse assessment methods, providing timely feedback to students, parents, and administration.
● Adaptability: Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, ensuring equal opportunities for growth.
Qualifications & Requirements
● Licensure: Valid Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) teaching certification for Secondary Science, or eligibility for a valid Arkansas reciprocal/alternative pathway license.
● Experience: Prior high school teaching experience is preferred, but not required. Energetic first-year teachers and recent graduates are highly encouraged to apply!
