🚀 Exciting News from Eureka Springs Middle School!
We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been awarded an Arkansas PLTW (Project Lead The Way) Grant to bring Design and Modeling to our upper middle school students! 🙌
This hands-on, minds-on course introduces students to the world of engineering and design. Using the engineering design process, students will:
🛠️ Sketch and model their own prototypes
💡 Explore 3D modeling and CAD software
🔍 Solve real-world problems through teamwork and creativity
We’re also excited to share that Ms. Ellis will be teaching this new semester course! With her passion for STEM and innovation, she’s ready to inspire the next generation of creators and problem-solvers.
Design and Modeling helps students build critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills—all while having a blast creating and innovating. It’s the perfect introduction to STEM pathways like architecture, engineering, and robotics!

They explored how to:

🎉 Exciting news for Eureka Springs Elementary School! 🎉
We’ve been awarded a $5,000 Childhood Activity Grant from the Carroll County Community Foundation! 🙌 This grant is focused on increasing physical activity and fighting childhood obesity — and we’ve got a fun and engaging plan ahead!
With the funds, we’re purchasing an interactive wall and floor display system that combines learning with movement. Students will be able to play over 200 active games that blend academics and physical activity — think practicing multiplication facts while running across the floor, learning science vocabulary by jumping to the right answer, playing virtual soccer, or even exploring music by stepping on a giant piano! ⚽🎶📚
Of course, we love getting outside, but this is the perfect indoor option for those rainy or chilly days.

1️⃣ What inspired you to join Eureka Springs Schools?
Definitely the people, everyone has been so good to me since the first time I was in the building. The staff has been so helpful, and made me feel like a part of the team when I was a substitute. The students are enthusiastic, and make everything fun.
2️⃣ What’s one fun fact about you students might be surprised to learn?
I used to live on a boat. I spent 7 years in the Navy, and I was stationed on a destroyer for 5 years.
3️⃣ What was your favorite subject in school—and why?
Social Studies. I really liked learning about the Civil War when I was young. I've been to Bull Run, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, and many more Civil War battlefields.
4️⃣ What’s your favorite local spot to eat, shop, or unwind in Eureka Springs?
I really like Mei Li they have really good food, and cool shirts. There’s also a very good chance you’ll see me at Beam Me Up coffee shop.

We are incredibly proud of Jessy Denton, who recently presented at the annual AAAE (Arkansas Association for Alternate Educators) Conference! She shared powerful instructional and behavioral strategies for the elementary classroom and represented Eureka Springs with professionalism and heart.
As if that wasn’t exciting enough—during the closing session, Jessy was named the Arkansas Elementary ALE Teacher of the Year! 👏🍎
