While chess may not involve running drills or lifting weights, it takes strategy, discipline, and mental toughness—qualities Bonus Shock has in spades.
Chess instructor Jerry Wells shares, “Our chess Athlete of the Week is Bonus Shock: a hard worker at practice and at the board, a salve for team morale, and our Regional Champion. Bonus’s dedication sets a high bar for the rest of our team.”
Congratulations to Bonus on being recognized for excellence in a different kind of arena!

Janelle Anderson, the daughter of Misty and Nicholas Anderson has been named the Eureka Springs Rotary Student of the Month for March 2025. Janelle currently serves as Secretary to the Rotary Interact Club. She is a member of National Honor Society, NAMI/GSA, Student Council, Drama and is on the Mountain Bike Team. Janelle works at Local Tub in Eureka Springs. Janelle, a Senior at Eureka Springs High School maintains a 3.7 GPA. She enjoys being outside, playing cards and acting. As part of the Eureka Springs High School Rotary Interact Club, she has served the community by helping out at various fund raisers and participated in the Samaritan’s Feet shoe giveaway. Following graduation, Janelle will attend NWACC. After getting a Bachelor’s degree in Science, she plans to eventually attend Dental school and become an oral surgeon.
