Eureka Springs School District will be celebrating Dyslexia Awareness Day on Wednesday, October 8th. Please join us in wearing red!

What a great weekend adventure! 🌞 Mrs. Bonham, our ESMS principal, invited students and teachers to sign up for a weekend hike at the river — and several joined in on the beautiful Saturday! 🥾🌿 It was the perfect day for exploring nature and making memories together.

Dr. Wellman’s 2nd graders just finished reading The BFG by Roald Dahl! 📚 They’ve been diving into narrative storytelling and are now watching the movie to compare and contrast it with the book. Students will explore how characters are described in text versus how they appear on screen—learning storytelling from page to screen! 🎬✨

🌟 Hustlin’ Highlander of the Week 🌟 Congratulations to Mars Clubbs, sponsored by Island Airco! Coach Bower shares, “Mars is a great leader for us. ☕👮‍♂️ Happy National Coffee with a Cop Day! 👮‍♀️☕ Our kindergarteners had some very special visitors Wednesday morning—officers from Eureka Springs PD, a Carroll County Sheriff’s deputy (with a K9 partner 🐾), and an Arkansas State Trooper. A huge thank you to the officers for spending time with our students—and to the Eureka PD officer who brought a special snack for the kids. What a wonderful way to connect and learn together! 💙

We are so thankful for our amazing custodial team who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our schools clean, safe, and welcoming every single day. 🧹✨ From classrooms to hallways, they make a huge difference in our students’ lives. 💙

🍎🌱 Johnny Appleseed in 2nd Grade! 🌱🍎 Mrs. Silzell’s second graders celebrated Johnny Appleseed with a fun and creative project! Students learned about his life, his love for nature, and the impact he made by planting apple trees across the country. The class had a great time connecting history with hands-on learning, and their projects turned out amazing. Way to go, 2nd grade! 👏🍏

🔥👏 Help us celebrate Mitzi Clark, our October Smokin’ Good Work Award winner! Mitzi keeps the middle school running like “Grand Central Station” with a smile, a servant’s heart, and a true love for our students. She goes above and beyond every single day for staff, students, and families—and we are so thankful for her! ❤️

SENIORS and Parents! You don't want to miss this information!!!

Today we had the honor of officially naming the elementary school office “Carolyn’s Corner.” Carolyn was a shining spot in our building for decades. She began coming to school in the 1980s when her dad served as superintendent for 19 years. When her mother, Miss Shirley, decided to sub, Carolyn came every day—and she never stopped. Over the years, she watched generations of local children grow up and always seemed to know every detail about the elementary. In many ways, she was the heartbeat of the school. We are deeply saddened by her passing, but her presence will continue to be felt each day. Naming our office “Carolyn’s Corner” ensures that her legacy of love, care, and dedication lives on in our school forever.

🍂🎃 What a fun Friday! Our Fall Fest lunch was the perfect way to celebrate our amazing staff. 🌭🍲 From chili dogs and Frito pies to pumpkin desserts, hot cocoa, and prizes—it was a day full of fall favorites and appreciation! A huge THANK YOU to Sunfest, Harts Family Center, and ESSD for your support in making our teachers feel so special, plus gift card prizes from Sparky’s, Java Dudes, and delicious desserts by Frances. 🍁❤️

Jenna spends countless hours helping her teammates get out on the trail—fixing bikes, planning rides, and encouraging everyone to keep the trails clear. Her constant drive to improve the team, paired with her positive attitude, makes her an incredible asset to the program. Way to go, Jenna! 👏💙

🐸🔬 Exciting things are happening in Mr. Taylor’s science class! Students had the opportunity to extend their learning with a hands-on frog dissection. Some future doctors and healthcare workers were thrilled to dive in, while others preferred the important role of scribe. 🙂 Either way, it was a great day of discovery and learning!
